Last week I had the extreme pleasure of taking part in a reading at Annie Bloom’s, my neighborhood independent bookstore. Dian Greenwood, a friend and developmental editing client, has been touring her debut novel, ABOUT THE CARLETON SISTERS, and for this reading/signing she invited me to do an “in conversation.”1
Guys, Dian is 81 (and I apologize if I’m conflating her with a “weed,” she is more like a lovely night-blooming Moonflower). She’s been working on this novel for a couple decades. Not only that, but she has several books in the pipeline with plans to add to her forthcoming bibliography, aka the audacious “also by” page. All this to say, if you’ve been toiling away for a while and have yet to ink a book deal, have heart. Here’s my own story of blooming late:
