Broadway Bound and Other March News
The great thing about living in Portland in March is daffodils. Forsythia. Lawns that are as green as St. Paddy's clover. Yeah, yeah, it rains here, we know. But the up-side of rain, for writers anyway, is that it compels us to stay at our desks and crank out the pages. And what often ends up on those pages is a reflection of the ever-alive darkness in which we dwell.
My friend Averil's debut ALICE CLOSE YOUR EYES is set on one of those islands to the north of us - in the other state known for long, wet winters. You know, the one with all the ferries? A wonderful location in which to set a steamy mystery. According to author David Bell, Alice is, "Crisply written, wickedly suspenseful," and, "reads like a dark, sensual nightmare."
M.J. Rose says, “ALICE CLOSE YOUR EYES is intense. No, it’s INTENSE. It’s also chilling, riveting, intriguing, surprising and compelling and I can’t think of a debut that kept me turning pages faster or more breathlessly.”
Now that I have your attention, I hope you'll come out and see for yourself this coming Tuesday, March 11 at Broadway Books. 7:00 pm. I'll be there too, reading from and signing copies of THE MOMENT BEFORE, and afterwards there will be cake and chat.
