In memory of my dear little sister.
Happy 2018
Somehow, we all made it through 2017. Maybe our projects flourished. Maybe they faltered. But most of the writers and artists I know have stated that, emotionally, this past year has taken its toll while pushing the feels to new (not always welcome) places. Which is why I'm writing to you, dear fellow humans. Consider riding those emotions, that energy, to places of exploration and fulfillment. I'll be doing the same. In fact, I'm very excited to be attending Jennifer Pastiloff's On Being Human retreat in France this May.
In service to rising from the rut, I've listed some cool opportunities below, and in case you haven't noticed, I'm absolutely digging Ultra Violet, Pantone's color of the year. Violet, you see, is the V of the electromagnetic acronym ROY G BIV. Science! If there ever was a time to embrace it, it's now. Why not embark on a personal experiment featuring your work, your curiosity, your resolve to journey to a new place. A place that connects you to uncharted worlds.
So, whether you're thinking of dipping your toe in a new project, or diving into revision, there's help, and there's a community waiting to participate in your evolving work and guide you to your next level.
Best wishes for a brilliant New Year,

NEW WORK
I was thrilled this past month to have a piece published in The Rumpus, in Arielle Bernstein's TORCH series. It's a piece from my memoir-in-progress,The Calibrated Exit of Grief, and it delves into one child's immigration experience.
